First topic in district 5?

Yumi sat on a bench, gently running her fingers through the petals of a sunflower. She turned it, examining its beauty. Looking up, she thought she heard some one coming.

Devon walked out and saw Yumi. "Hey!" he called, running up to her.

ooc: Do they know each other or not?

ic: "Hi." Yumi replied calmly, a warm smile on her face.

ooc: Sure.


IC: "Watcha up to?" Devon asked Yumi, hesitating a sec to catch his breath.

"Nothing." Was her answer. Noting at all but sitting there and looking at a flower. "What are you up to?" Yumi asked politely.

"Oh, nothing much. I just decided to get some fresh air," he replied softly.

"Oh. Has it been fun so far?" She asked, the same, small polite smile on her face.

"Well, I ran into you and we got to chat, so... yeah," Devon replied.

Yumi giggled at his comment. "Cool." She replied, looking back down at the flower. A ladybug landed on it, and she picked it up, playing with it with her finger for a moment before putting it on the ground.

"My dad used to always clear everything when he saw a bug, just to make sure it didn't get killed," Devon laughed, remembering his old dad... before he gained those obsessions.

Yumi giggled. "That's nice of him. Killing is bad. Like the reaping." She commented without looking over at him, just at the clouds. She didn't bother to tone her voice down(though it was quiet-ish already) when offending the reaping like that.

"I don't understand the Hunger Games," Devon sighed. "Only a cold-hearted president like Rain can think of something like that."

"Me either. I'd like to see Rain in there." She huffed.

"See how well she'd do without people to protect her," Austin agreed.

"Wouldn't last an hour." Yumi giggled jokingly.

"Surely not," Devon laughed too.

Yumi stood up. "I shouldn't be saying that about her when I know I probably wouldn't survive ten minutes either." She whispered.

"Yeah," Devon agreed. "Besides, if I was in the Hunger Games... I couldn't bring myself to kill another person. We're all just pawns in Rain's personal little game."

"Me neither." Yumi sighed. "I wonder who'll get picked this time?"

"It could be anyone," Devonn answered blankly.

"What if it were us?" She asked, looking at him.

"Well... then I'd protect you as a member of my district, and if we make it to the end..." the words held in Devon's throat. "Well, then I'd let you win."

Yumi stared at him. "You don't have to. If we made it to the end, who says we have to listen to the capitol?" She asked, looking curious.

"Well, even if we did... disobey," Devon began. "They'd just figure out a way to kill us both."

"I'd rather die than have a friend killed." She murmured. "But, maybe we'll survive. Maybe we won't get picked." She said, lightening up.
